Photography is my hobby, not my religion.

First post for 2012! Oh, and I’m selling my DSLR. :)

DSC_8611Thanks to Jay of Pointless Paranoia for the reminder to post an update. ^_^

I would’ve loved to do a Happy New Year post to celebrate 2012, but some things took place in my life during the latter half of 2011 that made me do less of writing and photography. As I’ve said on my personal blog:

It was one heck of a year—2011, I mean—but while it wasn’t the good friend like 2010 was, its parting gift is a lot of very important life lessons I know I will always remember. Circumstances from the previous year taught me a lot about patience, strength, hope, determination, love, perseverance, and strong will. It gave me quiet moments and unforgettable memories. I don’t think I will ever forget 2011.

And so, we’ve made it to 2012 after surviving two doomsday predictions by Harold Camping. :D

I’m still shooting less—only a few images to show for this post:

I’ve put my Nikon D40 DSLR camera for sale.

No, I’m not ditching photography. It’s just the hassle of having to lug around a beast in my neck that’s finally getting in to me. Because I don’t wanna carry a DSLR anymore, I’ve missed a lot of photo opportunities. I’m finally deciding to downgrade to a humble compact camera and see if it will better suit my wants (and needs).

Think of it this way: sometimes, in order to find ourselves, we have to make sacrifices. :) If owning a DSLR makes me take less pictures, then I’d rather get a compact and take more pictures, eh?

Now it’s time for you to help me what to get. I am strictly choosing between these two amazing beauties: Panasonic Lumix LX5 or Canon S95. What are your first-hand opinions? :)

  5. You have to go with what works for you. I agree with you on the ability to shoot more photos instead of what you could of photographed.

Move forward and don’t look back.
    Love the photos,

    • wow, thanks for being supportive, Tammy! :’)
well i still wish i could keep the DSLR, but i couldn’t let having it get in my way of enjoying photography so i gotta let it go… not an easy decision but i feel it’s one i have to make.

hopefully i get the passion back with a new compact camera. :))
